Wireless
Ah, wireless. I remember when there was no such thing as wireless but when it came out, it was beautiful. You could be anywhere. It didn’t matter as long as you had this wonderful technology with you. That is, if you had a great signal.
My rant today is what I say to everyone on my buddy list on AIM and MSN. Our wireless is horrible. Despite it being called wireless, my computer can never keep the signal. I’m over 10 feet away from the box, since it is in my parent’s room, and it works just fine when I use my mother’s laptop in my room. I proved them wrong that it wasn’t just the distance away from it by showing them that my mother’s laptop worked perfectly fine. Hell, it didn’t even drop four to seven times and no, I’m not exaggerating.
My computer, which was built by my father, is not made for wireless. It needs direct access to it. The reason why the box is in their room is because my mother works at home and that is her work place. The box used to be by the kitchen, which I am close to.
Now, there were some days that the wireless was great. It didn’t drop, but, those days are rare. So, one day, I decided to connect to a wireless that had no security. I didn’t really care if it did or not, I was desperate for internet since I have nothing else to do than help around the house.
Here’s where it gets interesting. This signal’s strength was 55% while ours is 67%. I used the lower one and it works like a charm. No dropping at all. In fact, it works just like a direct internet connection. I don’t even know where it’s coming from but it’s always on so my guess it’s someone who doesn’t care that others can get on it.
Now, I would be lying that this other wireless connection never dropped since I found out about it. It does have it days where it decides to not work and that’s fine since I use our connection for about an hour or two until I get back on it. I know this is horrible that I’m using someone else’s. But, whoever they are, I thank them since without that extra connection, I would be pissing my parents off because of my rants of our horrible wireless connection.
Now, don’t tell me you wouldn’t do the same I did if you were desperate and had no other entertainment in your room. If you wouldn’t, then you’re not a desperate person like me :P

Hey, found you on the USA clique. Wireless can be a pain oftentimes, that’s for sure. Perhaps a nice ethernet cable extension through the wall can help you be directly connected. But at least the lower one works, even if it isn’t your’s heh. Cant’ say I haven’t done the same.
