Disabilities
Most of these are from the disorder that I have as well as weaknesses. The reason I’m going to show you these so you can understand why I am the way I am.
I’m not the sharpest crayon in the box like most of the other people that are my age, or any other age for that matter. I like visual aid and it makes me really mad when I find a tutorial with no pictures, no matter what type. Visuals are my friend and when I find a tutorial that I understand, I’m very happy.
I cannot tell you how much I wanted to kill some of those read me files on how to install a script that looks easy but it’s not. The instructions are so vague, that it pisses me off to no end at the one who wrote it who thinks that anyone who will read it will get it right then and there.
Another thing is that I’m a worst explainer. Even though it may not seem so, I am. I will lose in any debate, I assure you, since I can’t support myself (reason why I got 3’s for my English state tests for the essay part because of that) all the way and I do get off topic. Although, I try my very best to explain. If I can’t explain it, I won’t even bother. Now, in real life, actually talking, I can.
Memorizing music notes takes me about two weeks and this made it difficult for me when I was in marching band in my freshmen, sophomore and junior year. Dates and names for History/Social Studies/Government class are also included as well as for some vocabulary (another reason why I don’t use vocabulary words the ages below me or above me, or the same, do use today).
I need modification or color matching because of this. Some may think that I’m lucky to have that but it’s really not. However, it does help me since I do get words mixed up. If I know the answer, I’ll get it right but there’s sometimes a vocabulary word, date, or name that I cannot remember for the life of me, I’ll just guess. I still have modified tests or quizzes, and I may have that until I finish college.
Another one is what other people find odd, as well as amusing, and that is I can’t say my “R”s right. I can say it right by saying “rock” or “right” but, if it ends with an “R” (or an “R” that is close to the ending), it will sound like it ends with an “L”. I have to pull out my driver’s license to show how it is spelled to those who need my last name since I can’t say it right. I have taken speech classes to help myself but, it didn’t fully fix it.
I even have a list of what words that sound the same and what words make other people snicker at. And, if you’re curious, you can click on the words to hear them being said by me. They’re all in MP3 format.
